Me with my lovely family.

๐Ÿ‘‹ Hi, Iโ€™m Zena!

Iโ€™m here to help experienced solo consultants turn more leads into clients

A Wee Bit About Me

Although I wrote tons of stories as a kid, I grew up wanting to be a marine biologist โ€” because octopuses and sharks are cool. Alas, that didn't pan out because large bodies of water tend to make me nervous.

But I was one of those kids who never stopped asking "Why?" and that annoying determined curiosity set me on the path of studying philosophy. Apparently, I don't know when to stop, and kept asking "Why?" until I earned a PhD in philosophy. (Not necessarily something I'd recommend. But it is how I met my husband, so ๐ŸŽ‰)

I may have left philosophy behind, but the curiosity didnโ€™t leave me. With curiosity and empathy, I love learning about my clientsโ€™ businesses. I create custom thought leadership strategies for experienced consultants. Iโ€™ll help you turn your expertise, personality, and customer insights into articles that build trust with the right people, even while youโ€™re sleeping.

Help the right people trust you โ€” so you can keep your pipeline full of qualified prospects keen to work with you.

Weโ€™ve been working with Zena for the last several issues of our magazine and sheโ€™s done a fantastic job connecting with our member companies, conducting interviews, and turning out great articles. The quality of our magazine has improved immensely.
Testimonial: I've had the pleasure of working with Zena on several writing projects over the course of a few years. She was highly recommended to us, and she continues to live up to the recommendation. Her work is consistently excellent."

How I got here

I finished my PhD while I was a stay-at-home mum of two little kids. (Thatโ€™s them, all grown up, in the photo above ๐Ÿฅน) The natural path was teaching, but I realized I didnโ€™t want to do that.

But I wanted to work (I like money) โ€” and also to be at home with my kids as much as possible. So I started a freelance business, working from home, doing something I loved: writing.

As my business grew, I learned a ton about marketing โ€” for myself and my clients. I realized that I loved marketing too. The problem-solving and creativity it involves really floats my boat.

By this point, Iโ€™ve also written dozens of trade magazine articles and interviewed hundreds of brilliant subject matter experts.

Incorporating AI into my workflows was the next iteration. Itโ€™s a powerful tool. Iโ€™m not an AI tech wizard (I actually tend to be slightly intimidated by tech, but jump in and learn anyway).

Instead, Iโ€™m a professional writer whoโ€™s found ways to use AI to get excellent results. And I love helping my clients make better use of AI too. No embarrassing AI slop for us.
